5 reasons why Jennifer Lopez can not be an “American Idol” judge

Words are already out that Jennifer Lopez isn’t going to judge “American Idol.” Just as there was no official confirmation about her joining the team, there was none available on her leaving it either! But a source for the People Magazine reveals that Fox has deemed J.Lo’s monetary demands far too north of their limit. So…..the search continues.

But be as it may, here’s a few speculations on our part as to the difficulties of the Monster-in-law actress’s joining the show-

This is less of a speculation and more hard fact. We know Simon Cowell used to milk $36 million a year off the Fox folks for foul-mouthing the contestants on the show. Per reports, J.Lo asked for $20 million or more. Now problems for Fox may be that J.Lo is untested whereas Simon was a proven crowd-puller. So it is a big risk making that big an investment on J.Lo.

J.Lo is an actress and a singer and the level of commitment Idol demands (one month in fall plus four months start of the year with many live shows) is always going to be difficult for someone doing films or recording albums or tours.

Then the ego-factor is a thing to reckon, too and while Randy and the other rumored judge Steven Tyler are no small fries, J.Lo could always wonder “are they at par?”

Related is the factor that J.Lo is high maintenance. There were already grievances between the rest of the last season’s judges about the royal treatment Simon used to get- with his giant trailer and all. Word is out that J.Lo asked for something in the same line. So that could prove an instant factor for her not bonding well with her fellow judges.

Last but not the least, one can never sure if his/her celeb image is going to receive a boost judging “Idol.” Many claim that the show has already jumped the shark. Then there are vicious critics (who didn’t make life easy for Ellen or Kara last season) to consider, too. There were already backlashes after words spread that Tyler and Lopez were going to judge the show. And at this point of her career, J.Lo cannot risk a tarnished public image.
